In 2026, I began my MA in Dance: Participation, Communities, Activism at London Contemporary Dance School. Through my previous experiences, I have become increasingly interested in social issues and different groups within society. At the same time, my understanding of dance has changed significantly. I no longer believe that dance has to be about beautiful movements. I have become interested in invisible and everyday movements and actions, and in seeing them as forms of performance. This shift has also been influenced by Yvonne Rainer’s task-based practices.

One of my current research interests is Chinese women born between 1960 and 1970. This research began through my relationship with my mother. I often accompany her to square dancing, shopping for food and clothes, and we talk about everyday life, relationships and other people. Through spending time with her, I began to notice the particular ways these women move, speak, think and relate to others. Their ideas about beauty, life, love and intimate relationships are also shaped by the rapid changes that have taken place in China.

I am interested in exploring these everyday experiences through the body and performance.
